Actress Gabrielle Union caused quite a stir when she took her step-son to “Pride”, as in the “Gay Pride Parade”.Pictures were posted online of the entire family at the event in support of the 11-year old.His father NBA star Dwyane Wade was absent, but sent his love through social media.
I appreciated the family rallying around this young man, but I understand why people had a problem with it.What does an 11 year-old know about relationships and sex, whether gay or straight?Gabrielle has now spoken out about the controversy.The actress said,
“People talk a lot about diversity and inclusion, but they don’t actually mean it. In our household, we mean that, and that’s why the entire household went to pride.”
As parents we do the very best we can for our children.It’s hard to judge loving parents.This was a family decision that should be respected.
