Required Qualifications

Position: Peer Support Specialist
Pay: $ 18/hr.
Description/Requirements:
The Peer Support Specialist provides peer-based support, encouragement, advocacy, and resource navigation to individuals and families experiencing homelessness, housing instability, or other barriers to self-sufficiency. The Peer Support Specialist uses lived experience, recovery-oriented practices, and knowledge of community resources to help participants establish goals, access services, maintain housing, and strengthen their ability to live independently.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED preferred/required depending on program.
Peer Support Specialist certification or Michigan-recognized peer recovery credential preferred/required depending on program.
Personal lived experience that supports the ability to provide authentic peer support.
Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, housing instability, mental health challenges, substance-use issues, or other barriers to self-sufficiency preferred.
Knowledge of Detroit and Wayne County community resources.
Strong communication, active listening, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Basic computer skills and ability to maintain electronic documentation.
Reliable transportation may be required for community-based outreach.
