One day after 11 people were shot dead in a synagogue in Pittsburgh, President Trump thought it to be a good idea to come out to the song “Happy” at an Indiana rally. Well the songwriter, Pharrell Williams, was not too “happy” about this decision and sent him a cease and desist letter demanding that he never use another song written by Pharrell. Here’s an excerpt of that letter.
“On the day of the mass murder of 11 human beings at the hands of a deranged ‘nationalist,’ you played (Williams’) song ‘Happy’ to a crowd at a political event in Indiana…There was nothing ‘happy’ about the tragedy inflicted upon our country on Saturday and no permission was granted for your use of this song for this purpose….Demand is hereby made that you cease and desist from any further unauthorized use of Pharrell Williams’ music.”
