I knew we needed to get tickets early, but I thought we had time. About a week ago my husband went online to purchase "Black Panther" tickets. My birthday was this past weekend and wanted to be sure to see the movie opening weekend. The first theater he tried, he couldn't find two seats together. We tried another theater and found seats. That's when I knew this was going to be a special weekend.
We arrived at the theater, got our snacks and our 3-D glasses. We went to an IMAX theater for the full movie experience. The movie was GREAT from beginning to end! This was truly Black Excellence at its best! As much as I love Chadwick Bosemen who played T'Challa the “Black Panther”, the break out star of this movie was Michael B. Jordan! I especially loved the line he delivered towards the end of the movie when he was about to die, "Bury me in the ocean with my ancestors that jumped from the ships because they knew death was better than bondage". That was one of the many classic and memorable lines from this incredible movie! This was history in the making.
"Black Panther" raked in a staggering $241.9 million, in North America alone, during the four-day holiday weekend. This movie now holds the record for the biggest Presidents' Day opening, surpassing "Deadpool," which opened at $152 million over the same weekend in 2016. It is the second biggest four-day total in history only behind "The Force Awakens."
