Justin Timberlake under fire after giving a tribute to Prince during the SuperBowl Halftime Show despite Prince's public statements against Timberlake and Prince's strong beliefs against technology like the one used to present Prince as a hologram. #Prince pic.twitter.com/z1tqRQHPiP— Music News Facts (@musicnewsfact) February 5, 2018
Although many were touched by last night's "tribute" (I being one of them) and it appears that his Family and Friends have approved of the performance, Prince's fans are livid with Justin Timberlake. They are referring to 1998 interview that Prince did with Guitar World Magazine. He was asked about the trend of live musicians using technology to duet with someone who had passed away. Here's what Prince said in his own words.
Guitar World: "With digital editing, it is now possible to create a situation where you could jam with any artist from the past. Would you ever consider doing something like that?"
Prince: "Certainly not. That's the most demonic thing imaginable. Everything is as it is, and it should be. If I was meant to jam with Duke Ellington, we would have lived in the same age. That whole virtual reality thing... it really is demonic. And I am not a demon.
Maybe Justin Timberlake should have dug up this article before his performance...hind sight...you know the rest...
