Brett Young, Boyz II Men Bring 'Crossroads' Collab To CMT Music Awards

Similar to their CMT Crossroads episode, Brett Young and Boyz II Men joined forces in Nashville on Wednesday night (June 5) to showcase their on-stage synergy at the 2019 CMT Music Awards, which was hosted by Little Big Town.

During their performance, which was introduced by Jimmie Allen and Michael Ray, the R&B group (made up of Nathan Morris, Shawn Stockman and Wanya Morris) joined Young for a rendition of his single, "Here Tonight." Backed by a live band, the quartet worked in harmonies and ad libs as they traded lines throughout verses of the 2018 hit, but mid-way through the cut, the three-piece vets brought some flavor to the mix. Cue the brief but smooth vocals of their own 1995 hit, "Water Runs Dry."

In late March, CMT unveiled their Crossroads episode, which included the acts singing "Motownphilly" in a studio at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville. Considering Wednesday's live performance, it's clear that they both have enjoyed the cross-genre project. "I think finding their music is how I found country music. These boys formed so much of who I am as an artist," Young previously admitted. The acts were among the nominees for this year's ceremony in the CMT Performance of the Year category. They are set to face off against Luke Combs, Leon Bridges, Maren Morris, Brandi Carlile and more in the category. Click here to see a full list of winners from the award show!
