Lupita Nyong'o is addressing colorism in a new children's book.

A new children's book written by award winning actress Lupita Nyong'o focuses on colorism.

Many Black Women of a darker hue, have issues with their skin tone.  Actress Lupita Nyong'o is determined to stop this.  A speech where she referenced a letter she received from a young Black girl who planned to lighten her skin "when you (Nyong'o) appeared on the world map and saved me", went viral a few years ago.  Lupita announced that she will be writing a children's book aimed at children ages 5 to 7 and will tell the story of a 5-year-old girl growing up in Kenya who struggles with having the darkest skin tone in her family.
