Pennsylvania Senator John Eichelberger is taking heat for comments he made about inner-city students and their ability to be successful in college. On Monday Sen. Eichelberger, said in a town hall earlier this week, "They fall back and don’t succeed, whereas if there was a less-intensive track, they would."
Eichelberger said that the comment, taken out of context, was in regards to the failing school systems in urban communities, not the race of the individual student. "They aren’t because they're black. It doesn’t matter what the color of their skin is. It matters that they had 12 years of very poor school," he said in a statement.
