Louis Tomlinson Promises To Live In The Moment Following His Sister's Death

Louis Tomlinson Visits KISS FM

Tragedy has given Louis Tomlinson a new perspective on life. One week after breaking his silence on the sudden death of his younger sister, Félicité, last month, the One Direction member took to Twitter Monday (April 22) with an insightful message on how he plans to make the most of his life despite the expectations of his fame and career.

"Someone very recently said something about how so many people focus on the 'end game' without enjoying the doing. I've been thinking a lot more about what success means to me. I feel like I've been mistranslating it for the last three years," Tomlinson writes in the post.

"Everything I've ever known, in my career, is straight down the middle pop. My expectations and aspirations are all shaped around my experiences, as much as I try and stay realistic I couldn't help but crave a 'hit' single," he continued, reflecting on his upcoming solo album. "It's because of this that I've spent so long on this album, trying to fit into top 40 radio when in fact maybe I should start with what I love and work from there instead of trying to write to a more specific formulae."

However, the 27-year-old says recent ruminations have inspired him to concentrate on the authenticity of his music than trying to achieve chart-topping success.

"Over the last few weeks I've put a lot of things in to perspective and in fact what I should be doing is forgetting about perception and to a certain degree worry less about being defined on commercial success," Tomlinson adds, "I'm not here to compete with the likes of drake and Ariana Grande."

The "Two of Us" star closed his note with promises to "make music I love and make my fans proud" and that he vows to embrace his life experiences along the way.
