Michigan residents are asked to turn down their heat until noon Friday.

In response to the sub freezing weather, last night folks across the metro received an emergency alert on their phones with a request from Consumers Energy to lower heat to 65 degrees or less. This was orchestrated by Governor Whitmer, who used the Emergency Alert system that is traditionally used for Amber Alerts in Michigan. She reinforced this request with a news conference. This request will continue until Friday noon.
