Entertainment News: Lemon's Deal, Eric Mays Death + Bishop Whitehead's Case

Great news for former CNN host, Don Lemon after being fired from CNN in April of last year. Reportedly, CNN and Lemon have settled on a separation deal that would pay Lemon approximately $24.5 million, which is the amount that was left on Lemon’s contract at CNN when he was fired. That’s three and a half years’ worth of salary, which equals to $24.5 million. Lemon recently announced plans to launch “The Don Lemon Show” podcast on the X platform and promises that his podcast will allow him to be “bigger, bolder, freer.” His podcast starts on March 11th.

In sad news, our condolences and prayers are going out to the family of City Councilman Eric Mays of Flint, Michigan. Mays died over the weekend at age 65 of natural causes stemming from an illness, according to his family. Flint’s Mayor Sheldon Neeley said Councilman Eric Mays’ bold and courageous service made him beloved among his constituents and his strong presence will be missed at City Hall. Mays’ older sister said Mays leaves behind a legacy in Flint for being funny, generous and outspoken. She said she will miss her brother’s loud voice and laugh, along with the craziness he brought to the family.

And finally… Probably the most flashy Bishop of all time had his first day in court this week… Bishop Lamor Whitehead’s federal court trial started on Monday in New York. Almost two years ago, Whitehead was indicted for wire fraud, attempted extortion, and for making false statements to fund his opulent lifestyle. He is, of course, best known for wearing iced out jewelry and flamboyant designer suits and clothing to church and to court. Monday he shocked reporters by wearing a conservative navy suit to court. As he left the courthouse, he declined comment but he laughed when a reporter asked him what designer he was wearing.
