18 thousand Detroit residents could be without water!

Officials say that crews will begin shutting off water services this week. This will leave nearly 18,000 Detroit residents at risk for having their water services cut off. Director Gary Brown, of Detroit Water and Sewerage Department, said in a statement that 17,995 households are eligible for shutoffs.

Brown says that customers who are at risk, were notified 10 days ago and were given 10 days make payment arrangements. "Every resident in Detroit has a path to not have service interruption," Brown said. "We don’t expect to have nearly the amount of shutoffs we did last year. ...If they do get service interruption, within 24 hours they’re going to be back in and we'll get them on payment plans."
